Position Overview/Summary:
The Lake of the Woods District Hospital Foundation is seeking an experienced and ambitious community engagement and events professional. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Donor Relations Coordinator is actively involved with and coordinates special events, third-party community events, direct mail, donor recognition and stewardship, and website/social media content.
The Donor Relations Coordinator is an integral member of the Development Team, helping engage the community in new ways, raise funds and articulate the impact of the philanthropic support received, through various mediums.
This role is high-volume and fast-paced. The ideal person will need to be comfortable changing focus quickly, making decisions without being afraid to fail, and problem solving to meet the needs of our team and donors. Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Development Team on the creation of the Annual Development Plan to achieve revenue goals that support the strategic direction of the organization
- Responsible for managing all aspects of the organization’s Signature Events from concept to completion
- Responsible for supporting and growing current Community Third Party Events portfolio
- Responsible for prospecting and securing new Community Events to enhance this portfolio
- Develop and secure corporate partnerships and sponsorships in support of the events portfolio
- Support, monitor and enhance the volunteer and stakeholder experience for those involved in the events portfolio
- Monitor and evaluate the Community Event and Signature Events portfolio to ensure that targets are being achieved as outlined in the Annual Development Plan and budget
- Steward special event attendees to qualify for potential upgrade to Major Gifts
- It is recognized that the work of this position is not always conducted during the regular business hours. Evening and weekend work is required from time to time. A great deal of flexibility and adaptability is required for the person in this position. LWDHF recognizes these requirements and provides support as required
- Coordinates Direct Mail program working closely with direct mail providers and ensuring deliverables based on Direct Mail annual development plan and objectives
- Posts content to the Foundation website and social media, ensuring accuracy, effective web design and readability
- Works closely with the Executive Director, assists in donor-centred cultivation, stewardship, and recognition, responds to donor inquiries and requests related to donation and tax receipts
- Provide administrative support in filing, photocopying, scanning, preparation of mailings, supply inventory, courier packages and other related office duties
- Undertakes special projects under the direction of the Executive Director as required
Experience and Qualifications:
- University degree or community college diploma in a related field or equivalent background in fundraising, administrative, communications and/or public relations
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a fundraising capacity in a not-for-profit organization
- Thorough working knowledge of donation database software, Raiser’s Edge knowledge is preferred
- Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to meet multiple and competing priorities
- Strategic thinker and problem solver
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to audit work for accuracy and quality
- Ability to work independently with minimal direction/supervision
- Highly professional, acts with integrity
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- A drive to succeed personally and to support team success
- A valid driver’s license is required
- Flexibility to work some evenings/weekends as required
