Description
The Nurse Practitioner (NP) is a valuable member of the Emergency team and is charged with providing first point of contact medical treatment and care to clients within an interdisciplinary model. The approach to care is rooted in evidence-based best practice.
The Emergency Room (ER) Nurse Practitioner is a critical care medical practitioner who will assist the physician(s) and other team members in medical emergencies. The NP will assist doctors, perform minor medical procedures, and treat patients experiencing a critical injury, allergic reactions, or trauma.
Lake of the Woods District Hospital is looking for an NP who will support the operations of the NP Service which is an extension of the Emergency Department. Upon arrival at the ED, patients assessed as less acute, with a Canadian Triage and Acuity Scale (CTAS) score of 4 or 5 (and in some instances CTAS 3) are directed the NP Service. This newer service has helped to improve wait times, optimize discharge for lesser acuity, increase patient satisfaction and ultimately increases bed capacity for acutely ill patients. As the hospital continues to prioritize patient well-being and adapt to changing demands, the LWDH NP Service stands as a sign of progress, offering an efficient and effective pathway for patients seeking non-emergency care.
