Current Rate of Pay: Min $54.04- Max $67.56
Current Shifts: Primarily Days (for approximately one year)
Position Summary:
The Manager of Patient Flow, Bed Allocation and the Nursing Support Pool assumes a hospital wide leadership role within the organization. This role demonstrates expertise in optimizing hospital resources to improve patient flow through bed allocation which helps to provide a quality patient care experience.
As a powerful change agent, the Manager leads hospital wide initiatives based on evidence informed practices and using process redesign expertise (systems thinking; value stream mapping, PDSA (plan, do, study, act), waste reduction, workplace reorganization, Lean principles, etc.).
The Manager ensures they provide an environment that supports and advances professional practice and leads clinical staff in implementing evidence-based practices that are sensitive to limited resources within a patient centred care philosophy. They serve as role model for professional and organizational core competencies and support quality patient-care outcomes.
The Manager provides daily directions to the PSW and Clinical Extern staff to provide high quality, safe, evidence-based care in partnership with the patient and families and in keeping with the vision, mission and values of GGH.
The Manager supports the Clinical Extern program through the supervision of the Clinical Extern Coordinators, ensuring a positive experience for Externs in the organization and quality, patient focused care.

Qualifications, Experience, Skills and Abilities:
- Registered Nurse with current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario in good standing
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
- Master’s degree in a health related field preferred
- Minimum 5 years acute care experience
- Demonstrated formal leadership skills and responsibilities, with 2 years formal management experience
- Experience managing patient flow and bed allocation processes, including working knowledge of infection control guidelines as they pertain to patient flow decision making.
- Membership in relevant professional organization(s)
- Experience with Lean process improvement methodologies
- Demonstrate leadership with respect to enhancing patient and staff safety.
- Demonstrate leadership to improve patient experience, patient satisfaction.
- Demonstrated excellence with interpersonal communication, coaching, mentoring and team building skills.
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate positive interactions among all members of the health care team.
- Proven analytical, problem solving and critical thinking and negotiation skills.
- Strong patient focused philosophy to support patient experience and patient satisfaction
- Demonstrated ability to make sound and effective decisions.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous professional development.
- Demonstrated ability to provide leadership, support and critical analysis in stressful, complex clinical and emotional situations.
- Ability to analyze research and implement evidence-based practice into Policy and Procedure development and clinical practice.
- Demonstrated knowledge of program planning, implementation and evaluation.
- Demonstrated skills in building collaborative relationships.
- Demonstrated ability to execute strategies to maintain a balanced financial position.
- Experience with conflict resolution, guiding staff experiencing performance and/or attendance problems.
